How EFT Works

The concept of EFT comes from the traditional Chinese medicine Acupuncture (ch’i for “natural energy” or the life power that flows through all living things), that discovered hundreds of meridian points, which are the connected points across the anatomy that affect a specific organ or other part of the body.

EFT is an emotional version of acupuncture, without needles (how great is that !).  Instead, we stimulate certain meridian points (see images below) on the body by tapping gently on those key acupuncture points with our fingertips to treat physical and emotional ailments.

EFT works on a subconscious level : as you focus on painful feelings or physical symptoms, it may often bring up negative memories that can be cleared.  By tapping on these meridian points, you are sending your amygdala the message to relax (the part of your brain that governs the “fight or flight” response and that acts as our brain’s alarm system).
